THIS IS AN ONLINE CLASS via ZOOM, so you will also need to have a decent internet connection and download the free ZOOM app. Instructions will be emailed before 1st class.

In this fun class you will learn how to knit colourwork with two hands as you make the beautiful Alaska Hat by Camille Descoteaux.  Using just two colours of fingering weight yarn the colour combinations are yours to discover.  From dark silhouettes against a gentle sunrise or a blazing sunset to snow covered trees and a stormy sky. The possibilities are endless.

Our instructor Rebecca will also be teaching how to weave in your colours as the work floats across the back as well as the ladderback jacquard technique for catching longer floats. 

These techniques will be useful in all your colourwork projects including sweaters so this is a great class if you are ready to add some colour and design to your knitted wardrobe.  

Skills Needed:  Confidence in your ability to knit and purl, cast on, bind off in the round. 

Materials Needed:

• Fingering weight yarn in two colours.
  • Colour A (Ribbing and trees) 231 yards (192 m) such as Cascade Heritage Sock
  • Colour B (Back ground) 109 yards (99m) such as WildWestDye Soft Fingering Merino 50g or Riverstone Yarns Merino Sock One set each of 3mm (US 2.5) and 3.5mm (US 4) needles in either 16" cable circular and DPN's or 32" circular for Magic Loop to suit your prefered method of knitting in the round.
• Multiple stitch markers including one unique. 
• Darning needle
• Measuring Tape
