Once you are familiar with the basic crochet stitches, Granny squares are a perfect project for learning your next-step crochet skills and they are also a wonderful foundation to endless projects such as: coasters, scarves, bags, hats, tank tops, sweaters, blankets, toys and more! 

In this workshop, participants will learn each step of how to crochet a granny square including: crocheting in the round, turning corners, adding additional colours, starting with a magic loop and joining your squares together.

Prerequisites: Beginner crochet skills are required for this workshop; Students should already be able to make a foundation chain, and do single & double crochet stitches.

Materials Needed:  

  • One 5mm crochet hook or hook
  • 50 g / 80 yards (74 m) each of three different colours of worsted weight yarn such as Cascade Anthem yarn similar from your stash.  If using a different weight yarn please adjust hook size accordingly.
  • Darning needle and scissors.

Materials can be purchased at Baaad Anna’s Yarn Store.

INSTRUCTOR: Jackie Blackmore

Jackie is an avid knitter, fibre artist & teacher. She appreciates how knitting keeps your brain sharp while still being so meditative, restorative and creative. She loves teaching knitting to new students and sharing all the helpful tools, tips and tricks she’s learned over the years.
